What a massive unnecessary retcon of a beloved franchise. I usually wouldn't criticize a storyteller for putting a sociopolitical message into their work. Some of the best works throughout humanity history had sociopolitical messages. But the best ones were usually subtle, and one thing the modern activist storytellers seem totally incapable of is subtlety. They basically turned 'Nightmare Before Christmas' into the 'Divergent' franchise but with stop-motion holiday themed characters. These modern activist storytellers even completely dismissed the franchise's main protagonist as just a self-absorbed narcissist for the crime of being male. Never mind that he's shown to have the ability to self-reflect on his behavior and better himself, not to mention put himself in harm's way to help his friends and fix his mistakes. He's just not paying attention to Sally, and that makes Sally big sad. Sally's feelings are taking center stage to drive the plot, rather than actually using the character development from the first film as a jumping-off point. She needs to feel much the same with Jack as she did with Doctor Fink, because if she was remotely satisfied there wouldn't be a female-driven story to tell. At least not in the eyes of the activist storytellers, because female characters can only achieve greatness by abandoning oppressive pursuits like marriage. [Sarcasm heavily implied] Then the story makes the mistake of blowing its load by opening up all the doors, which should have remained in reserve for future stories if they were planning on continuing the spinoffs. Whoever created this tale basically said screw all the storytellers who come after me, I'm opening all the doors and making them all seem trivial. Then because they had to stomp all over western traditions with that, they had to create new doors because they weren't creative enough to properly utilize the ones provided to them. This is hack writing.

I think at the beginning of the movie when belle and Gaston are talking belle doesn’t really see him as evil, just an annoying person who gets in the way. When Gaston first quote unquote “proposes” she says , “I don’t deserve you.” Not necessarily a hell no not in a million years, but just a thanks but no thanks kind of rejection. Belle got a happily ever after because she deserved it. Gaston didn’t get his because he didn’t really know what he wanted. To Gaston, Belle was basically another antler in his decorations, a trophy, something to brag about to his friends.He didn’t necessarily want her as his wife, but rather want her as his wife just so he could say she’s his wife.

The art is as ghastly as the story.

If I were a kid, I would absolutely be obsessed with all these fake trailers for Coraline 2. Hell, when everyone was making fake FNAF Movie trailers years ago, I watched all of those too, except those wherw made by actual humans who cared about what they were making.

I'm only now realizing how the other mother ACTUALLY failed. She was desperate and went for a teenager, completely different from the 3 child souls she already had. Teens are in their biggest rebellion stage, along with better motor and thinking skills. In a way, Wyborn's grandma was right in allowing a dysfunctional family with a rebellious teen in the home, which turned out to be the hero to her long lost sister.

The backrooms are interesting as it takes the liminal space of the internal imagination and tries to make it a physically existing thing beyond reality. Its like asking if narnia and neverland are real places or if they exist within us. Edit: you really need to watch the movie where Captain America and The Scarecrow have to restart the sun.

As I recall the original versions of most of these tales were much more sexual and served as cautionary tales. As time went on all of the sex became violence because someone thought we could protect children not by education but by constant supervision.

The biggest problem with Adam and Lilith is that they were created pure, and automatically they portray Adam as a dominating character with Lilith being portrayed as a “sympathetic “ character that the Fallen (Lucifer) worked with to tempt Eve. All the while clearly showing the biased view of the Fallen that didn’t show up or contacted until when the exterminators get desperate enough to directly attack Charlie’s plan. Charlie being a pawn in the game seems more and more likely the further the story plays out, as all things are seemingly going her way when Heavens authority weakens

Could say that the Mist was in a symbiotic relationship with the other mother for a time The souls were not only keys to other mothers power but payment for others inhabitation within it, when she started losing the souls the Mist started to take back what was essentially given when it saw its pact with other mother waning and losing the value it once had

I'd say, even if I love the animation itself, I think I prefer Grimm's version. I don't know, something about the tree and bird thing made me fall in love with the original tale! I love how the prom is also longer!

The Alice in Wonderland looking girl, with how she moves and how she's lit makes me think of paper animation. I think it'd be really cool to combine rhe clay stop motion with paper stop motion, though it'd be a very difficult task most likely.

Wait... couldn't AM just... make... a body for himself? You mean to tell me that this machine can keep starving humans alive for months, shape their bodies and minds however it wants butcant make a body for itself? The story kinda falls flat once you start using your brain, anyway, TADC is an AMAZING show so far, something good after i devoured the ever short but ever sweet season 4 of wakfu in this endlessly ocean of garbage shows.

Consider this, the mist is not trying to pull Coraline into the other world, it's trying to claw it's way back to the other world. See the mist and the other mother are clearly not on the same side, the mist takes hostages but Coraline's parent's souls are not shown to be fueling the other mother as much as the other souls and every time the other mother loses some power, the mist claims more area. Perhaps Coraline was what the mist was using to get back to it's own world, the world of which is supposed to be nothing, a world where nothing has been expelled to create a world entirely manipulatable by the other mother and the mist simply wants to return to it's non existence?

They paint Asha as a hero, but she only cares about granting a wish for his 100-year-old grandfather Sabino. For what? Making music to inspire? He didn't have to wish for that. He could have worked hard for that his whole life. I think we are missing something here, regarding theories. Sabino wears red and gold, has a beard, and has this hold on Asha in order for his wish to be granted. What if he did this on purpose to make Asha overthrow Magnifico, so to set her up to eventually fail and give him power? What if Sabino is the real villain? Not only that, what if Asha's grandfather is really dead, and this Sabino is a dark sorcerer in disguise? What if it's Jafar? Remember, he did disguise as an old man to lure Aladdin to the Cave of Wonders. He could have misled Asha and Magnifico, bringing out the worst in both of them, giving him the advantage to soon take control through Rosas' potential chaos. And this could be him traveling through time, so to make one person abuse wishes and unleash the Chernabog. Plus, his instrument might as well be his snake staff under a spell to fool the public.

You need to become educated in the lore of Boneworks/Bonelab. It's almost 1:1 in similarity. I can guesstimate that it's going to be revealed that they ARE in fact in a seperate plane of existence from the "real world". They're not just trapped, they've gone somewhere else completely. Then they'll find the exit, which is the only way to "log out" of the game

I love Neil Gaiman. He does a great job at weaving an intricate web of mysticism and whimsy using folklore and legend.
